I am currently working at St. John’s University as the Director of Academic Technology. Although my primary focus is on the academic space, I have also moved into a role that focuses on IT strategy and enterprise management. With a more expansive role, I am allowed to collect and leverage business data to enhance services and improve operational efficiency. Also with my previous experience, I am also relied upon to help develop and shape strategic direction with the CIO and the executive leadership team. With the desire to increase transparency and shared ownership, I have been reaching out to other university units and incorporating them on the reshaping of SJU’s technology posture. Although by title this role appears to be less involved than an Executive Director position at The George Washington University, it does allows me more direct access into the core operations of an IT organization at a major institution.
